Tim Robert – Chocolate Deprivation [Just Movement]

The 53rd release on Just Movement welcomes Tim Robert back to the label for a brand new single. The US artist made his debut on the Dutch imprint in June of 2015 with a remix of ‘Jericho’ by Stage Van H & Rogier. Contributions to the label’s 2017 Winter and Summer sampler’s then followed. Now following a release on Soundteller Records to begin the new year Tim returns to Just Movement with ‘Chocolate Deprivation’ alongside remixes from Stage Van H and George Fil.

As of the USA’s foremost progressive house talents Tim's creative prowess seems to grow with each successive outing. ‘Chocolate Deprivation’ once again comes with fresh ideas and poignant themes. On a backbone of driving beats and chugging rhythms comes ethereal vocal gates and spiralling synth themes. A wave of noise melts the composition down into a charged main break, one where the rhythmic core builds tension and the vocal narrative becomes a focal point, before morphing into a wave of trippy gates as the groove returns for a resounding finale. For the less vocally included a dub has also been included with the same boundless energy and rhythmic prowess.

The first interpretation is provided by label artist Stage Van H who returns following a strong remix for Balkan Connection to begin the year. Known amidst progressive circles for his warm rolling grooves, Stage has carved out another beauty here with smooth flowing lines and a gorgeous atmospheric storyboard. Operating as a dub, the mix excels on timely melodic overlays and it’s sense of rhythm and drive. Emotive chord changes add a subtle yet poignant rush as the third act progresses before celestial vocal pads provide the icing on the cake.

The second and final interpretation is provided by George Fil who returns to the label for his fourth appearance. The Greek producer has become a core artist on the label following contributions to the label’s 2016 Winter and Summer samplers. Most recently George remixed ‘Superstition’ by Sebastian Busto in fine style and returns with an excellent rendition of ‘Chocolate Deprivation’. Keeping the driving vibe of the original nicely intact, George goes a touch deeper in mood with dubbier designs and irresistible hypnotic flow, elevating the atmospheres perfectly before a short but timely break seals it’s mystical appeal. A superb remix from George which rounds out another must have release from Just Movement. Don’t miss it.
