Tarso – The Message [Inspired By Trees Records]

Continuing to add exciting new talent to their roster, Inspired By Trees welcomes Tarso to the label for his debut EP. The Mexican artist first emerged nearly a decade ago with releases via 2Dutch Records and Raise Recordings. The Playa Del Carmen resident was quickly recognized for his big room sound that incorporated elements of progressive, electro and tech house. 2020 and 2021 proved to be impactful years for Tarso, as he continued to refine his sound into more progressive minded territory and in turn adding DJ Zombi's Beat Boutique and Bynomic's Another Life Music to his resume. Continuing on that upwards trajectory as 2022 reaches it's third quarter, Tarso now lands on Inspired By Trees with a two track showcase entitled 'The Message'.

Getting underway with the title selection, Tarso crafts a sturdy dance floor minded groove complete with exotic drum arrangements, thumping bass stabs and layers of flickering percussion. As evidenced in some of his recent work, Tarso always manages to create timeless musical moments and the main break continues that trend with a thoughtful vocal sample playing out over cinematic tones, muted piano stabs and evolving atmospheres. Clocking in at nearly two minutes in length, it's this magical interlude which sits at the emotional heart of the composition, perfectly setting the stage for a tasteful drop and hip swinging finale.

The companion piece 'Maybe In Heaven' follows suit with a similarly strong thematic journey. Oriental style motifs take centrestage here, creating a transcendent vibe as buoyant beats and driving bass lines push energy into the main break. Expanding the musical scope of the production further, Tarso adds clusters of pianos to his hazy soundscapes, eventually opening further as the interlude progresses, before ultimately breaking off into a rhythmically changed final movement. It rounds out two excellent cuts from Tarso, a rising artist who has managed to find a good balance between strong musical themes and dance floor ready grooves, making for a must have Inspired By Tree debut.
