John Johnson's ICONYC welcomes Soul Alt Delete back to the label with 'Words Not Spoken'. Having gotten the year off to a great start with an EP for Senso Sounds, the UK artist then made his ICONYC debut with a contribution to the label's popular 'Five Years' collection. Praised by Maceo Plex and Faithless for his melodic sound, Soul Alt Delete now returns to ICONYC for his debut single alongside remixes from Rafael Cerato & Antony Toga and Curt Reynolds.

Soul Alt Delete's original version is both deliberate and emotional. Powered by a sleek, techno inspired framework, the London resident works quirky hooks and smooth, atmospheric phrasing to great effect, perfectly setting the stage for a heartfelt vocal. Dominating the break, these breathy wails steal the air to maximum effect, before effortlessly melting down to the cavernous, warehouse style groove for a lazer-like finish.

Occasional collaborators Rafael Cerato & Antony Toga make their label debut with the first interpretation of 'Words Not Spoken'. Famed for their releases via Systematic and Timeless Moment, the French duo rework the groove into one of warm, break beats and voluptuous, key changing bass tones. Chopped and re-processed, the vocal plays a primary role, drifting above the melodious foundation throughout, while a brief second act provides just the right amount of tension to spearhead a reflective finale.

Rounding out the release is Curt Reynolds who provides the second and final interpretation of 'Words Not Spoken'. The American artist makes his label debut following releases for Astralwerks, Enhanced Recordings and Understated Recordings. Delivering his first remix in over four years, Curt aims squarely at the dance floor with a robust yet roomy framework that comes with some serious bounce and drive. The vocal resonates really well, sitting amidst a haze of colourful textures and vibrant arps, perfectly drifting in and out of coherence, on wards to a euphoric finale. Lovely stuff from the fast-rising american, which caps of another superb release for John Johnson's ICONYC. Don't miss it.
