Inspired By Trees begins the new year by presenting SOAME's debut artist album 'Diffusion'. The Zurich resident is a recognized name in Switzerland's electronic culture, with more than fifteen years of organizing events such as the Arosa Electronica Festival, Backyard Hype @ Street Parade or other Label Nights, he is also on the road as a DJ and Resident DJ at the famous Hive Club in Zürich. Also a highly regarded producer, SOAME's unique style of deep, musical house and techno has found a home on Hive Audio, EIN2, Colour Series and HMWL. Having made his Inspired By Trees debut in July of 2018 with a remix of Paege's '70/50 Chance', SOAME now returns to the label for his debut album entitled 'Diffusion'.

It's a story told over eight acts, showcasing a broad spectrum of emotions, with darker shades, warm harmonies, redolent rhythms and a bevy of poignant moments, all wrapped up in a techno state of mind. The album commences with the mid tempo electronica piece 'The Pack'. It's broken beats, drone-like swells and acidic underbelly cast an anticipatory tone. Compelling in every sense of the word and a piece which gets the journey off to an intriguing start. It more than whet's the appetite for 'Hands', which is a showcase of SOAME's precise craftsmanship. A storyboard of soulful vocal elements and brooding tones unite for a minimalistic yet buoyant groove, one that's perfect for a contemporary dance floor. The tempo continues to rise with the low-slung funk of 'Circuit'. It's haunting themes and percussive splashes are immediately captivating, capturing a transcendent mood not easily conveyed through electronics.

The album's fourth selection showcases the first of three collaborations. For the better part of two decades Hannes Bieger has been one of Europe's most highly regarded mix engineers, working with the most cutting-edge producers in house and techno. 2017 saw Hannes step further into the spotlight as an artist, quickly building a portfolio of his productions through releases on Bedrock and Pokerflat. Now landing on Inspired By Trees he collaborates with SOAME on 'Flatline'. It's deep, pulsating framework is perfectly contoured, adorned with detailed percussion, organic stabs and subtle shades and tones. Timely modulation and ghostly motifs add waves of tension, before melting down to a sonic sizzle and powerful re-entry.

The collection's second joint production finds SOAME working with SOLOK. Perhaps best known for collaborating on two pieces for Jonas Saalbach's 2017 Einmusika album 'Perspective', the Zurich based duo now pairs with fellow countryman SOAME on 'Wrong'. Mysterious and mystical from the outset, the piece flows beautifully with dark motifs and exotic drums driving momentum forward. Smooth chord changes and warm overlays entice the narrative with emotive moments, before impassioned vocal wails seal its brilliance during a heartfelt break.

The tempo and energy continue to rise with the album's title selection 'Diffusion'. On a backbone of tough beats and warm bass tones comes organic drums and fresh rhythmic themes. Fragmented vocals and buzzing stabs steal the air, as timely drops and clever transitions keep the first act fresh and dynamic. Soulful wails then trail into the centrepiece, drifting through effervescent pads, before a gentle rise transfers energy into a purring finale.

The third and final collaboration on the album welcomes Zurich based Tschan to the label with 'Home'. The duo go deeper with chilling vocals sitting atop a chunky groove and wavering tonal tension. Percussion comes in waves, rhythmic and driven, adding a buoyant cadence and perfectly translating the journey's spiritual message to the dance floor .

All good sound stories have a contemplative conclusion and this sentiment gets conveyed beautifully with the final selection 'Lookin'. Its timeless sensibility is carried through striking chord stabs, warm bass swells and an underbelly of laid back, broken beats. Nostalgic and moving, it's a fitting end to a triumphant debut album from SOAME, an artist who has certainly gotten the new year off to a great start.
