Sam Scheme – Mrs. Zateeva [Balkan Connection]

Sam Scheme returns to Balkan Connection with a new single alongside remixes from Donny Carr and Sam Heyman. The Russian artist has found a comfortable home on the Serbian imprint, while also landing regular releases on Electronic Tree, Massive Harmony Records, One Of A Kind and Stellar Fountain. Now making a welcome return to Balkan Connection Sam presents his latest single 'Mrs. Zateeva'.

Known for his playful melodic sound, 'Mrs. Zateeva' comes in as one of Sam's best to date. Bright, buoyant and full of great energy, it's a nod to some of our timeless progressive house favourites over the years. As with all of Sam's creations, the production is quite pristine but with an inviting warmth that brings out all those nostalgic feels.

US artist Donny Carr has been hotly tipped of late with well received releases on Inspired By Trees, MNL, One Of A Kind and Yang. Now the Salt Lake City resident debuts on Balkan Connection with a gorgeous take on 'Mrs. Zateeva'. The groove gets reworked into something a bit more fluid and free flowing while a complement of haunting atmospheres and organic percussion fill in the framework. Musically it's a touch less pronounced as well, downplaying the grandiose feel of the original while relying on less distinct concepts to translate it's dreamy message. Lovely work from Donny.

The release concludes with Sam Heyman providing the second and final interpretation of 'Mrs. Zateeva'. The Stockholm based artist is best known for his releases on Afterglow, SPINNIN DEEP, Proton’s Particles and John OO Fleming’s JOOF Recordings. Now fresh off a massive remix of East Cafe's ‘Being Kind Is Overrated’ for Superordinate Music, Sam turns in another sizable rework here. Anchored by beefy beats and a pulsating groove it's got immediate peak time appeal. Piercing stabs and a variety of percussive details makes for a sensory saturating first act, before tasteful modulation and epic overlays make for a special moment during the break. Definitely one to bring your dance floor to life, rounding out what is another great offering for Balkan Connection. Highly recommended.
