Based in Berlin, the German arist made his debut on the Polish imprint in April of last year with 'Frozen World'. The two track offering proved to be some of his most creative work to date, eventually leading to releases on Droid9, Future Avenue and One Of A Kind later that year. Now following three remixes to begin 2021, Rikken returns to Soundteller with his first original project of the year. Always finding a creative line between progressive house and melodic techno, Rikken leans closer to the latter on the first selection 'Substance'. A beefy foundation makes for a strong presence early as hypnotic arps percolate throughout the framework. Nicely accented with clustered effects, it's precise percussion fires forward as smooth chord changes segue into the main break. The centrepiece's trippy disposition proves to be the prefect prelude for a finale of processed vocals and buzzing synth lines, the latter of which ultimately carries the track home. The title selection 'Blue Moon' complements it's predecessor perfectly with a deeper sensibility. Dreamy arps, offset rhythms and effervescent effects layer a warm and inviting low end. A gentle rise in modulation then provides a smooth segue into the main break, before further tweaking leads to a buzzing finale. The third and final selection 'The Morning Sun' continues the deeper trend of 'Blue Moon'. Warm, wavy and positively glowing, it's swing heavy groove flows with a smooth emotive inclination, providing the perfect foundation for layers of percussion and placid pads to work their magic over the top. Once again building with a veteran's savvy, the main break showcases a greater atmospheric scope and perfectly shifts energy into a balmy final movement.
