Germany's Afterglow Records returns showcasing new interpretations of Rafa'EL's 'Revival' and 'First Thought'. Originally released in December of last year as part of the 'One Year Ago' EP it found the Polish artist crafting two deep, musically inspired pieces that left a lasting memory with progressive music fans. Now as the Spring season begins, Afterglow invites Black 8 and Kymatik to re-imagine the tracks.

The lone interpretation of 'Revival' is provided by Black 8 who makes his label debut. Based in Cairo, the Egyptian artist has long been a favourite of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. His progressive minded sound has been showcased on some of the genre's most trusted imprints in Hope Recordings, Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden. Now following an EP for Stripped Recordings and a remix for Antrim, Black 8 lands on Afterglow with a stunning interpretation of 'Revival'. Known for his storytelling style, the Egyptian artist crafts a near nine journey into redolent grooves and charming melodic concepts. Fluid and crunchy in equal measure, it’s a mix that utilizes the main theme from the original in a less dreamy, more groove oriented context. Tension and drama get offset with moments of profound emotion, primarily in the main break which furthers the storyboard before building to a sonic sizzle and exhilarating drop.

The release concludes with Afterglow artist Kymatik returning to the label following his 'The Ultimate Answer' single from April of last year. Also known for being one half of the infamous Wellenrausch duo, Torsten Fassbender has taken his Kymatik alias into new sonic territory with releases on DJ Zombi's Beat Boutique and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Now returning to the label for his third appearance Kymatik delivers a stunning interpretation of 'The Ultimate Answer'. The tranquil melodic concepts of the original translate beautifully over a tighter, more dance floor friendly framework. Fragmented vocals, wispy atmospherics and radiant tonal themes converge for a colourful storyboard, before a heartfelt break seals it's emotional appeal. A gorgeous interpretation from Kymatik which rounds out a superb remix edition for Rafa'EL's 'One Year Ago' EP. Highly recommended.
