Radieux – Waterfalls and Us [Soundteller Records]

Returning from a short hiatus, Deersky's Soundteller Records welcomes Radieux back to the label for a new single. With well over a decade’s worth of DJ experience, Slovenian born artist Radieux has been a fixture at some of the world’s premiere clubs and festivals, sharing the stage with John Digweed, Nick Warren, Solomun and more. Upon creating the Radieux alias in 2019, Artessa Music and Chrom Recordings served as initial landing spots for his melodic club-friendly sound. Fast forward to 2023 and the first six months of year have proved to be the most prolific of Radieux's career, notching projects for Beat Boutique, Eat My Hat and Soundteller, the latter of which served as a home for his March offering 'Here Comes The Storm'. Now, making a welcome return to the label, Radieux unveils his latest studio creation 'Waterfalls and Us', alongside remixes from Gai Barone and Kamilo Sanclemente & Mauro Aguirre.

Continuing to showcase his great dancefloor sensibilities, Radieux's 'Waterfalls and Us' finds that perfect balance between groove and melody. A muscular low end serves as the foundation for bright percussive arrangements, evolving arps and a gorgeous piano-like lead which serves as a transition into the main break. Coming to full emotional fruition as the centrepiece evolves, melodies converge and textures emerge, perfectly setting up a flurry of drums and smooth key changing finale.

The remixes delivery nicely as well with one of the progressive scenes leading lights Gai Barone turning in another hugely memorable production. The Italian artist leaves something to the imagination here, opting for a dreamier approach which makes great use of texture and colour to create an evolving atmospheric storyboard atop punchy beats and buoyant percussive arrangements. Definitely one for the clued up progressive floors out there.

Rounding out the release with the final remix is Kamilo Sanclemente & Mauro Aguirre who continue to collaboration with great success. The Colombian duo aim squarely at a peak-hour dance floor with full grooves, rolling rhythms and a haunting harmonic topline which marries well with the electric lines below. Looking to keep energy high throughout, the main break is concise, serving to build tension quickly, before a final assault of supersonic synths caps off this epic offering from Soundteller in fine style. Highly recommended.
