Paul Hazendonk - Sanction Remixed [Manual Music]

Paul Hazendonk's hugely successful track 'Sanction' gets new life this week with a special set of fresh interpretations. Originally released in December of 2016 alongside remixes from Hernan Cattaneo & Martin Garcia and Boss Axis. It marked the Dutch label's 200th release and enjoyed an extended stay in Beatport's Progressive house chart as well. Now almost a year later we see the label inviting Rauschhaus, Sezer Uysal and Idham to reinvent the track for 2017.

One of this year's hottest and most prolific artists has undoubtedly been Rauschhaus. The German producer has seen his music showcased by Parquet, Steyoyoke and Traum where his modern melodic style has flourished. Here he puts his own unique twist on 'Sanction' taking it into dark and dramatic territory. Full of devilish tones, a charming break and a warm, robust groove it's certainly dialled nicely for the dance floor. The drum work is what strikes me the most though, incredibly detailed with offset hits and a web of mesmerizing hats makes it a wonderful place to get lost in.

Up next Manual Music artist Sezer Uysal makes his sixth appearance on the label following releases on Ready Mix, New Violence, Click and his own Dark Pleasure imprint. Surely one of Turkey's most popular DJs, Sezer brings a sleek vibe to 'Sanction' with a nicely contoured foundation and smooth hypnotic qualities. The lead motif translates quite well and the indistinct vocal narrative during the break sets up the charming drop quite nicely.

The release concludes with Idham making his label debut after three appearances on Manual Music affiliate MNL. The Malaysian artist has a unique style which incorporates traditional progressive sensibilities but with a modern creative flair. His interpretation of ‘Sanction’ is no different with broken, layered beats and wonky yet highly emotive melodies. It’s certainly the most reflective sounding of the three and makes an ideal release closer.

The standout for me though is the Rauschhaus remix, there’s a reason this man is consistently at the top of Beatport’s progressive house chart and his remix here is a great example of that. Definitely one for the box.
