Modeplex – All Night [Balkan Connection]

Balkan Connection’s second release of 2018 finds Modeplex returning for his debut EP. The German artist had a strong year in 2017, highlighted by releases on MNL, One Of A Kind and Traum. Now presenting his first EP for Balkan Connection, Modeplex returns with three brand new creations alongside remixes from Jelly For The Babies and Adrinalin.

The title piece ‘All Night’ is a vocal led production with a german melodic vibe resonating strongly throughout. Clean and pristine, the break brings the most emotive charm, perfectly setting up a third act of bulbous bass tones and intertwined motifs. ‘Broken Arrow’ brings a bit more drama with a darker tonal lead backed by a galloping groove. A short but timely break adds just a hint of atmosphere before going heads down into a dark and exhilarating third act. The third and final original ‘Under Your Moon’ has a classic German progressive vibe once again with a super catchy lead and neatly tailored percussion. Definitely the spaceist sounding of the three and also has a great clap with some lovely processing. Three solid cuts which will no doubt grab the attention of progressive and nu-deep DJs alike.

The lone interpretation of ‘Broken Arrow’ is provided by Balkan Connection label artist Jelly For The Babies. The Serbian producer is making his 55th appearance on the label following a year highlighted by releases on Low Pressings, Sound Avenue and his own One Of A Kind imprint. For his first remix of 2018 Jelly For The Babies takes “Broken Arrow’ into more pure progressive territory with a chugging groove and smooth rhythmic cadence. The main theme comes off a touch dreamier and less menacing but no less mysterious, particularly during a gorgeous break. Lovely remix from Jelly For The Babies.

The lone interpretation of ‘Under Your Moon’ is provided by Adrinalin who is making his label debut. Hailing from Kiel, the German artist has a short but tidy discography with appearances on Tach & Nacht, Tenor Recordings and Stativ Records. Now making his much anticipated Balkan Connection debut Adrinalin beefs up ‘Under Your Moon’ for a perfect complement to the sleeker original. Bolder melodies and an effervescent atmosphere make for a prefect peak time interpretation. A solid debut EP for Modeplex on Balkan Connection, rounded out by excellent remixes from Jelly For The Babies and Adrinalin. Don’t miss it.
