MLFR – A Journey To The End Of Time [Polyptych]

Opening the month of December, Polyptych welcomes MLFR back to the label for a new single. The French artist made his debut on the Russian imprint in November of last year with 'From Inside'. The two track offering has remained the most popular release of MLFR's career, with the lead track still sitting a top his Beatport best sellers chart. Now following an EP for Melodik Minds, MLFR lands back on Polyptych with 'A Journey To The End Of Time' alongside remixes from Eric Rose and Alex Moumouris.

Beginning with the Original Mix MLFR explores a contemporary astral narrative. A gorgeous intro sets the stage for warm beats and a chugging groove to begin the exhilarating journey. Haunting violins hover above the pulsating foundation, while driving percussion pushes momentum into the main break. Cosmic synth hooks highlight the centrepiece, bringing moments of emotion and drama, before a wave of granular swells provides a meditative bridge into a symphonic finale and piano led outro.

The first interpretation is provided by Eric Rose who makes his label debut. Hailing from Kiev, the Ukrainian artist has compiled an impressive discography since first appearing in 2015. Releases via Dear Deer, Eklektisch, Freegrant Music and Timeless Moment have all been sensational. Now making a much anticipated Polyptych debut, Eric puts a progressive twist on 'A Journey To The End Of Time'. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original the Kiev resident leans closer to peak time territory, with a fuller groove and rolling rhythmic core. Striking synths and a catchy arp unite for energetic moments across the first act, perfectly setting up a break that is both harmonic and tension filled. It's delicate musicality captivates, eventually leading to a quirky synth line, before ultimately shifting energy into an emotive finale.

The second and final interpretation of 'A Journey To The End Of Time' is provided by Alex Moumouris who returns to the label for his second appearance. The Greek artist has a short but tidy resume highlighted by releases on Stripped Digital and DTL Records, while also earning the support of world class DJs Laurent Garnier and Markus Schulz. Now following his 'Iridium' EP from January of last year, Alex returns to Polyptych for his first remix. Setting the piece in motion, a foundation of driving beats and free flowing bass converge for a wall of momentous energy. Electric rhythms complement the rolling foundation, while percussive flurries and fluttery arps steal the air. Leading into the main break, tasteful modulation marries timely swells for moments of euphoric energy, before a tense yet emotive break seals it's peak time appeal. A rousing rendition from the Greek artist, rounding out another must have offering from Polyptych. Highly recommended.
