Missus – Last Kiss Before We Say Goodbye [Terasonic Records]

The latest release from Terasonic welcomes Missus back to the label for a new EP. The Belarus born, Spain based artist has the distinction of delivering the label's inaugural release in June of this year. Backed by a remix from Ge Bruny, 'Sonzera' resonated amongst progressive music fans and set the label's course for a bright future. Now following a remix for Modern Agenda, Missus returns to Terasonic with 'Last Kiss Before We Say Goodbye'.

Sitting in the creative space between deep and progressive house, it is the charming sounds of ‘Last Kiss Before We Say Goodbye’ which leads the release off. On a bed of warm beats lays exotic drums and radiant atmospheres. Nicely timed vocal elements and a quirky arp lead into an early break, perfectly setting up an underbelly of emotive chord changes. Luminous tones beam brightly across the first act, while hazy harmonics and buoyant rhythms fill in the framework. Stripping down into the main break, the poignant lead themes breathe beautifully, tastefully restrained as mountainous bass tones and percussive flurries build a subtle tension onwards to a classy drop and smooth finale.

The companion piece 'Born In a Time of Adversity' follows with a fuller more progressive minded approach. It's rippling underbelly is immediately striking, perfectly contoured and full of ultra sonic qualities. Electric rhythms, buzzing stabs and striking percussion then layer the powerful foundation, resulting in a unique contrast of character and groove. It’s a pleasing sonic marriage and one which makes for a hugely energetic journey, elegantly peaking as hopeful overlays and a well crafted break puts a cap on this chugging gem. It rounds out a hugely successful return to Terasonic for Missus who continues to be one of progressive music's most intriguing up and coming artists. Highly recommended.
