Having made his label debut in May of last year with a collaborative offering alongside Julian Nates, the Argentinean artist also boasts a discography with releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Balkan Connection and Strangers Beats. Now making a welcome return to Or Two Strangers, the Cordoba resident presents his first solo EP for the label entitled ‘Paradigm’. Beginning with the title selection Mauro flexes a deeper side of his studio repertoire. Buoyant and uplifting, its robust groove carries mountainous swing as clattering percussion and tranquil arps push the free-flowing narrative. A bed of chord changes continues to elevate mood, juxtaposed perfectly against a wall of hazy refrains, before reaching a delicate yet spine tingling crescendo during the final break. Rounding out the release is ‘Gravitation’ which finds Mauro venturing closer to peak time territory. Backed by a warm and well contoured groove, it’s bounce and drive quickly become infectious. Hypnotic lines and percussive splashes offset each other, before the main break furthers the narrative with tantalizing melodies and ghostly wails, perfectly setting the stage for a gigantic build and exhilarating finale. Energetic and emotive in equal measure, it rounds out two excellent productions from Mauro Augugliaro, who makes an impressive return to Antrim’s Or Two Strangers.
