Mariner & Domingo – Beautiful Thing [Balkan Connection]

The latest release from Balkan Connection finds Mariner & Domingo returning to the label for a new single. The US duo made an impressive debut on the Serbian imprint last month with 'Fantastic Playground'. Remixed by progressive house favourite Sebastian Busto it proved to be one of the label's most emotive releases of the year. Now making a quick return, Mariner & Domingo present their follow-up single 'Beautiful Thing' alongside a remix from Nicolas Rada.

Given the smooth melodic aesthetics that shone so brightly on 'Fantastic Playground' it's no surprise that 'Beautiful Thing' is equally captivating. Tastefully restrained yet rhythmically powerful, it’s heartfelt musicality and exotic percussion are perfectly tailored for an organic house dance floor. There are no boisterous lead themes, just beautifully interwoven vocal wails, cascading keys and blissful atmospheres, all underpinned with nostalgic chord changes. A timeless beauty from Mariner & Domingo once again.

Rounding out the release and providing the lone interpretation of 'Beautiful Thing' is Nicolas Rada. Hailing from Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist makes a welcome return to label with his last appearance being in 2019 when he remixed Li-Polymer's 'Pterodroma'. The last two years have proved prolific for Nicolas, landing releases on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Antrim's Or Two Strangers and Balance Music. Now fresh off a remix for Balkan Connection South America, Nicolas returns to Balkan Connection with a deep rendition of 'Beautiful Thing'. The tempo comes a down a touch here with Nicolas' affinity for drum programming once again impressing. Warm, rich and full of great shape, a spacious groove provides the vehicle for fragmented elements from the original to work their magic. It's nose for the dance floor makes it a great complement to it's more song based counter part, while an expansive break should captivate all the dreamers out there. A lovely remix from Nicolas which caps a gorgeous summer release for Balkan Connection. Don't miss it.
