Born in Guatemala and now based in Israel, Marcovits made his debut on ICONYC last year with 'Weft'. Remixed by MR.MNT, the release would go on to earn tastemaker support while enjoying an extended stay in Beatport's Progressive House charts. Now, presenting a much anticipated follow-up, Marcovits return to the label with 'Hidden', alongside a remix from Joone. The Original Mix is an apt barometer of where Marcovits' headspace is at, as he lets tough grooves serve as the anchor for quirky stabs to drive energy into the main break. Misty pads emerge across the interlude, creating a calm anticipatory vibe, before melting down to a thunderous drop and fine selection of contemporary synth swagger. Rounding out the release with the lone remix is Joone who makes his label debut. The UK artist makes great use of the primary themes for a stomping main room vibe throughout. A housier framework provides additional swing, while fragmented vocals sit neatly below the surface, adding character and depth. A tense break might be the highlight, one where fuzzed out stabs and quirky lines co-ax beautifully, before transfering energy into a groovy finale.
