LOM - Transmissions [The Sessions Recordings]

The latest release on C-Jay's The Sessions Recordings welcomes LOM to the label for his debut single. Regarded as one of Argentina's top progressive house talents LOM boasts an incredible discography with releases on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Sound Avenue and ICONYC. We last heard from LOM in June with his 'Saturno / 2017' EP released courtesy of Nikko.Z's Dopamine Music. Now making his much anticipated debut on The Sessions, LOM presents his latest single entitled 'Transmissions' alongside remixes from Ryan McCormack.

It's always the intricate details that are most striking in LOM's productions. Impeccably produced, 'Transmissions' begins with a warm, undulating groove, gorgeous hypnotic elements and waves of firing percussion. The dreamy synths which phase in and out of the framework are incredibly striking, constantly evolving for new aural delights at each successive pass. Timely effects add a trippy flair, upping the drama just a touch but without losing the amazing ethereal feel of the track. Bubbly arps play nicely into the main break, very timeless in design and with a modular narrative that is oh so subtle but appease the senses tenfold as a result. Definitely one for the more astute progressive house aficionado and another standout piece in LOM's discography.

The release concludes with two remixes from Ryan McCormack who is also making his label debut. With previous releases under his Ryan Mac alias, the UK artist owns a meticulous discography highlighted by appearances on Natura Viva and Shodan Records. Now beginning a new journey under his given name Ryan provides two excellent interpretations of 'Transmissions'. Beginning with the '3AM' version which ups the tempo nicely and is a touch more techno inspired than the pure progressive original. The revamped groove is driving, fluid and full of boundless energy. Bulbous bass swells bring great emotive qualities, playing off the arps and atmospherics to great effect, while a well crafted break brings just the right amount of tension for a stellar drop. The aptly titled 'Balearic' version comes in a touch deeper and groovier yet still maintains very powerful drive. The main elements shine once again with kaleidoscopic motifs taking you on a colourful journey, as iridescent overlays and sheets of sonic dust provide an epic third act finale. Ryan is likely a new name for most progressive house fans, but these two productions are already causing a stir in the underground, so expect to be hearing a lot from this fresh talent in the future. Great to see C-Jay's The Sessions Recordings back after an eight month hiatus and with yet another stunning release. Highly recommended.
