Eudi – Apex [False Face Music]

The latest release on False Face Music welcomes Eudi to the label for his debut single. Although only five releases old, the Toronto based imprint has made a huge impression on the electronic underground, showcasing fresh music from label owners SpeakOf and Santini. Already well known in their home of Toronto, Canada the future looks bright for this talented duo as False Face continues to build a reputation for contemporary techno and deep house. The labels latest finds well known Brazilian artist Eudi making his debut with 'Apex'.

The end of 2016 saw a stylistic shift for Eudi who previously recorded under his Antonio Eudi alias, enjoying celebrated releases on Steve Bug's Dessous Recordings and Toolroom. Looking for more artistic freedom led Antonio to begin the year with a fresh start and so the Eudi alias was born. His latest entitled 'Apex' comes in as his most techno inspired and most creative effort to date. Anchored by a tight, punchy framework and thick, rolling grooves the piece develops quickly with playful arps, timely chord stabs and grandiose overlays. A well constructed break brings both emotion and drama as smooth chord changes lead to a frenzied build and classy drop. Excellent on many levels and no doubt magic on the dance floor as well.

The lone interpretation of 'Apex' is provided by False Face label bosses SpeakOf and Santini. The studio synergy between the two seems to be right on point as they follow up their excellent 'Tolume' EP with a gorgeous remix here. Impeccably produced, the duo takes the main themes and reinvents them with a more musical approach resulting in a great alternative to the original. A groovier foundation opens it up for a broader audience but it's the third act which really shines as dark stabs and ominous effects play off the more euphoric top end wonderfully, it's a unique contrast and very emotive as a result. A lovely rendition from SpeakOf and Santini which rounds out another excellent offering from False Face Music in style. Highly Recommended.
