Kymatik – The Ultimate Answer incl. Martin Roth Remix [Afterglow]

Afterglow Deep returns this week with a stunning new single from Kymatik alongside a remix from Martin Roth. Since debuting the Kymatik alias, Torsten Fassbender of Wellenrausch fame has found a unique sonic space, one where emotion and groove is at a premium. In addition to recently completing work on the new Native Instruments Maschine Expansion ‘Deep Matter’, the Berlin based artist has also showcased his music on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Paul Hazendonk’s MNL imprint. Now returning to his comfortable home of Afterglow, Kymatik presents some of his most inspired work to date in ‘The Ultimate Answer’.

Torsten’s cutting edge design skills are evident from the track’s early moments as a heavily processed vocal works some sensory magic over muted beats and a warm, wobbly low end. Delicate tonal accents and meandering atmospheres complement the rippling low end perfectly, resulting in a spacious, charming slice of electronic music. Tensions do rise momentarily during the second act with some timely modulation and moments of sonic decay, before ultimately shifting energy into a glowing, percussive finale.

The lone interpretation of ‘The Ultimate Answer’ is provided by Martin Roth who returns to the label for his third appearance. The Frankfurt born, Berlin based artist first appeared on the German imprint all the way back in 2007 when he remixed ‘Call The Galaxy Taxi’ by label boss Plastic Angel. This eventually led to releases on Anjunadeep in 2010 where he became a mainstay on the roster. His return to Afterglow has been much anticipated and his ‘The Ultimate Answer’ proves to be yet another exceptional creation. With a firm focus on the dance floor, Martin reshapes the groove into perfectly contoured, vibrant mounds of bass, while the main themes drift in and out of the framework. Void of any massive break, it’s a tale of three acts with the second getting set up perfectly with a short and timely interlude, ultimately leading to emotive chord changes, stellar drum fills and an astral take on the vocals. A brilliant remix from Martin which has already been supported by Hernan Cattaneo on his hugely popular Resident radioshow so you know it’s one not to miss. A brilliant release from Afterglow that belongs in every progressive music aficionado's collection. Highly Recommended.
