KRBO – Oracle [ICONYC]

KRBO makes an impressive return to John Johnson's ICONYC with new single entitled 'Oracle'. The Spanish artist made his debut on US imprint in May of last year with a remix of 'Paranoia' by Volkan Erman & Hypnotic Progressions. Also laying claim to releases on Jannowitz Records, Nightcolours, Bullfinch and Tenampa, KRBO now lands back on ICONYC for his first single alongside remixes from Kaiser Souzai and Sean & Dee.

Sitting comfortably in melodic techno territory is the original mix which brings a fiery disposition. Peak time is definitely the desired time slot for this one with it's tough, driving groove and tight, crunchy rhythms. The narrative evolves nicely in the main break with symphonic overlays adding a cinematic flair, while ghostly vocal wails and clap delays bring drama and tension.

First up on the remixes is Kaiser Souzai who makes his label debut. Based in Berlin, the German artist owns an extensive discography dating back nearly two decades. Appearances on BeatFreak Recordings, Parquet Recordings and Jannowitz Records highlight his portfolio and he now makes an impressive ICONYC debut with a superb rendition of 'Oracle'. Taking a cue from the original, Kaiser ups the tempo a touch and plays off the primary themes nicely. The end result is a grandiose version that will blow up a dance floor with it's unique combination of energy and emotion.

The release concludes with ICONYC label artists Sean & Dee returning for their first remix. Having initially appeared on the US imprint in February of this year with 'The Ascension', the Italian duo has also showcased their music on BeatFreak Recordings, Dear Deer and Movement Recordings. Now following their massive bootleg interpretation of the Game of Thrones theme , Sean & Dee deliver an equally large interpretation of 'Oracle'. With crisp, vibrant production and a modern rhythmic approach, this has power and groove to spare. Two monumental breaks are sure to etch themselves in the memory of music fans around the globe and the drops are equally impactful. Definitely my favourite version on the release and further evidence that Sean & Dee are a duo to follow closely going forward. Highly recommended.
