Releases Kostya Outta & Sorokin – Lullaby [Balkan Connection] By Release Promo Posted on 31st May 2019 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Balkan Connection's latest finds Kostya Outta and Sorokin joining forces on 'Lullaby' alongside remixes from Imran Khan, Bablak and Ewan Rill. Hailing from Belarus, Kostya first appeared on Balkan Connection in February of last year with the well received 'Rebirth'. Having since delivered a remix for Matt Rowan while also recording original material for Paul Hazendonk's MNL and Jelly For The Babies One Of A Kind, Kostya now lands back on Balkan Connection with first time collaborator Sorokin. The original mix kicks the release off with both groovy and atmospheric qualities. It's deliberate cadence is nicely accentuated with percussive flurries and cascading tones. Timely effects and esoteric design further the storyboard, leading to a stripped down middle section which builds a subtle tension, before those wondrous atmospherics eventually get washed away and the groove drops for a smooth finale. The three remixes all add mightily to the original with Imran Khan being first up. The UK based artist goes fuller and warmer with amazing results. It starts with the low end, rich, fluid and full of robust character it lays the perfect foundation for fragmented melodies to work their magic. Classic chord changes pull at your heartstrings just a touch, while a stripped down section leads nicely into a tranquil break. Lovely stuff from Imran. Fresh off his 'Hopeful Morning' EP, Bablak returns to the label for a more modern sounding take on the track. Crisp and groovy in equal measure, the Russian artist reprocesses the main elements into something far less distinct and more rhythmic. There's a brooding tension sitting under those glowing atmospheres and it's this unique contrast which ultimately makes for such a great listen. Rounding out the release is Balkan Connection staple and Sever Records boss Ewan Rill. As one of the progressive underground's more creative remixers, the Russian artist comes up with something special here once again. Rhythm and groove always remain at a premium in Ewan's work and his 'Lullaby' rendition is no different, flowing effortlessly through rugged bass grooves, trippy acid lines and layers of incandescent atmospheres. It caps off another well rounded release for Balkan Connection who showcase some of progressive music's staple artists here. Don't miss it.
