The Cordoba resident first appeared on the Argentinean imprint in 2018 with a contribution to the label’s popular ‘Strangers’ series. 2019 then saw Julian return alongside fellow countryman Mauro Augugliaro for the duo’s collaborative EP ‘Intense Pleasure’. 2020 proved to be Julian’s most successful year to date, with a string of well received releases for Balkan Connection, Clubsonica, Mango Alley and Proton’s Particles, while also earning praise from progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J. Now beginning the new year on a strong note, Julian returns to Or Two Strangers with ‘Suppose’. Comprised of two tracks it’s the fluid qualities of the title cut which get the EP underway. Rhythmically charged from the outset; it’s rippling groove, buzzing rhythms and glowing sonics converge for a ball of pulsating energy. Evolving beautifully, the first act flows through incandescent effects and fragmented melodies, before a spoken word vocal shifts the narrative onwards to a driving finale. Rounding out the release and sitting as a perfect complement to its predecessor are the deeper vibes of ‘Blue Train’. Warm and spacious, it’s tranquil arps gently tease the senses, as a trail of tantalizing tones adds to its rhythmic prowess. Emerging atmospheres elevate mood across the first act, elegantly shifting energy into a timely break. Ghostly vocal loops melt down across the centrepiece, building anticipation as a percussive flurry sparks a powerful drop and groovy final movement. It caps off an excellent EP from Julian who gets his 2021 journey off to a great start on Or Two Strangers. Highly recommended.
