Releases JP Lantieri – Malbec [Flemcy Music] By Release Promo Posted on 10th December 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Flemcy Music caps off a successful year with a new single from label boss JP Lantieri. The French born, UK based artist presented a string of well received singles and collaborative efforts across his 2018 journey, most notably ‘The Dark Side’ which received remixes from Ornery, Paul Hazendonk and Robert Babicz. With regular support from Sasha, Petar Dundov, Guy J and other electronic music luminaries, JP now ends the year with ‘Malbec’ alongside remixes from Ge Bruny, Bioslave and Marcus Knight. As a self professed wine connoisseur JP now pays tribute to the ‘Malbec’ variety with a suitably brilliant slice of progressive house. Becoming increasingly known for his melodic prowess JP blends musicality and groove with a strong dance floor sensibility on ‘Malbec’. Rhythmic and trippy from the outset, its chugging framework gets complimented with detailed percussion and astral effects. It’s momentous drive quickly becomes infectious, as a short break resets the groove for a rush of melody and colour, ultimately leading to a spacey break which perfectly transfers energy into a ghostly finale. The first interpretation of ‘Malbec’ is provided by Ge Bruny who returns to the label for his second appearance. The Brazilian artist has found a unique place in the progressive house underground with releases on Clinique Recordings, Dear Deer, ICONYC and Stellar Fountain offshoot Astrowave. Having contributed his excellent ‘At North’ to Flemcy’s ‘A Progressive Affair’ earlier this year, Ge Bruny now lands back on the UK imprint with a superb rendition of ‘Malbec’. The Brazilian artist stays true to the driving, energetic feel of the original, while beefing up the groove and detailing a sleeker rhythmic core. It’s this pure progressive state of mind and a darker, more subversive approach which not only makes it a perfect complement to the original but also a sure fire dance floor burner. Also making a welcome return to Flemcy Music is Bioslave who provides the second interpretation of ‘Malbec’. To much acclaim, the German artist released his ‘Tanz Der Schneeflocken’ on Flemcy’s aforementioned ‘A Progressive Affair’ collection this past summer. Also landing an EP on Cosmopolitan Flavour in May of this year, Bioslave now rounds out 2018 with a gorgeous take on ‘Malbec’. The tempo shifts down, the beats toughen up and groove takes on a heavier, chunky vibe for what results in a stomping affair. Acid-like rhythms coupled with bright tonal themes and a wealth of timely effects quickly saturate your senses. As the narrative progresses a bubbly lead theme intertwines with hypnotic fragments before a swirling break delivers just the right amount of drama and tension. Rounding out the release and providing the final interpretation of ‘Malbec’ is Marcus Knight who makes his label debut. The Australian artist has a storied history in electronic music. A two decade long career has seen Marcus compile an astounding list of production credits including Carl Cox, Armand Van Helden, Marshall Jefferson, Mighty Dub Katz, Timbaland, Missy Elliot, Lenny Fontana and DJ Pierre. Now following a 2018 highlighted by a string of successful singles on Vicious Black, Marcus makes his Flemcy debut with a rousing rework of ‘Malbec’. Coming from more of a tech house sensibility this is perhaps the biggest departure from the original and thus a very worthy complement. The sleek lead theme sit in contrast to it’s burly low end, while driving percussion and haunting overlays provide energy and atmosphere, resulting in a concise and powerful seven minute journey. It caps off what is not only a superb release for Flemcy Music, but a sensational year for the fast rising UK label. One which saw impressive roster additions like Kamilo Sanclemente, Paul Hazendonk and Robert Babicz. It sets up what is bound to be an even better 2019, so make sure you're following along for ride.
