Jesuan M – Midnight Thoughts [Or Two Strangers]

Antrim’s Or Two Strangers welcomes Jesuan M back to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Viedma but now based in La Plata, Argentinean artist Jesuan M first emerged just over two years ago. A contribution to the Strangers Beats “South Strangers, Vol. 2” collection set the course for future releases via 3rd Avenue, Balkan Connection, Dopamine White and Droid9 Limited. Having made his Or Two Strangers debut in October of last year with a contribution to the label’s ‘Strangers 2’ collection, Jesuan now returns for a two-track showcase entitled ‘Midnight Thoughts’.

Beginning with the title selection, Jesuan crafts an epic slice of progressive house with a tantalizing melodic narrative. Played out over eight minutes, it’s muscular groove, pulsating rhythms and striking effects come together for amazing moments across the first act. With the main break drawing closer a glowing melodic lead fades to prominence, shifting the narrative from a heads down mentality to one of euphoria and reflection. Opening up further as the centrepiece expands, a wall of drums and effects unite to unleash the groove and a gorgeous melodic finale.

The release concludes with the equally impressive ‘The Last Verse’. Well in line with the previous selection with its free flowing, trippy style; a marriage of devilish effects and driving percussion set the stage for a joyous lead theme. Once again, the main break is set to delight dance floors with its emotional disposition and dynamic build, which perfectly shifts energy into a fluid, key changing finale. Exhilarating and memorable, it rounds out a welcome return to Or Two Strangers for Jesuan, who continues to be one of Argentina’s most promising progressive house talents. Highly recommended.
