JEI BLVCK – Fire and Ice [JEI BLVCK]

JEI BLVCK rounds out a successful year with a new single for her JEI BLVCK imprint. The American artist has enjoyed measurable success across 2021, spending time working on projects for her own imprint and the UK's long standing Stripped Recordings. The Florida resident flexed her collaborative powers throughout the year, partnering up with Kieran Fowkes, Tone Of Arc and Shawni, while also remixing Nelin's 'Fragile' in fine style. Now as 2021 winds to a close, JEI BLVCK returns to her comfortable home of JEI BLVCK with a two track showcase entitled 'Fire and Ice'.

Selection one finds JEI collaborating with singer / songwriter Winnick. Based in Australia, AJ Win aka Winnick has been making a name for himself through well received projects via Beatfreak, Eleatics Records and TRYBESof, where he collaborated with IKARIUS, Brigado Crew & Ubbah and Mass Digital respectively. Now pairing with JEI BLVCK for the first time, the duo ready the peak time sounds of 'Fire and Ice'. Taking straight aim at the dance floor, JEI BLVCK crafts a storyboard of dynamic beats, striking stabs and fiery percussive arrangements. Razor sharp design and muscular flow set the stage for Winnick's spirited vocals to work their magic. Juxtaposed beautifully, it's the soulful qualities of the Aussie's chops which balance out the devilish sounding narrative, bringing further depth and space to the journey, where the end result is a highly emotive audio travelogue that you're bound to be hearing a lot in the coming months.

The companion piece ‘Break Away’ rounds out the EP with a similarly excellent vibe. Once again exploring a dark, crunchy narrative, it's a stirring vocal which brings depth and soul to those astral sonics. JEI's synth hooks sound as infectious as ever, building tension and anticipation coming out of a vocal-led break, as the punishing beats drop and spearhead a goosebump worthy finale. It rounds out two stunning creations from JEI, making for an EP which seals a brilliant year for the US artist and foreshadows what should be an even better 2022. Highly recommended.
