The Belgian artist made a strong entry into the deep house scene last year with releases on Dream Culture and Be Adult Music. Now bringing his sultry sound to Magician On Duty, the Lebbeke resident presents his 'Kitezh' EP. Beginning with the title selection Jakhira explores a gorgeous blend of organic drums and charming musicality. Warm beats and layers of exotic percussion set the foundation for a gorgeous narrative of Mediterranean motifs. Soulful vocal wails drift over the framework for impassioned moments before coming to full fruition during a heartfelt break. The companion piece 'Quiraing' continues the ethos of the EP while adding a slightly more reflective quality to round it out nicely. Smooth, elegant and a touch romantic, it’s an incredibly charming ten minute journey. Muted pianos and ghostly wails marry elegant motifs and wispy atmospherics, while exotic percussion and fluttery concepts provide the perfect prelude to a gorgeous final act. It caps off an excellent Magician On Duty debut for Jakhira who is certainly an artist to watch as 2020 moves forward. Highly recommended.
