Ivanshee – Horizon [Just Movement]

The latest release from Just Movement welcomes Ivanshee to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Belarus, Ivan Shpakouski aka Ivanshee has been pushing his energetic brand of progressive house since 2011 with releases on Balkan Connection, JOOF Aura, Inmost Records and Stellar Fountain's Astrowave division. Now Ivanshee steps up for his much anticipated debut on Just Movement with 'Horizon' alongside remixes from Adnan Jakubovic and Ewan Rill.

From darker beginnings the lead track 'Horizon' flows through a wonderful range of emotions. Mysterious and engaging it's subversive moods open up with poignant chord changes and trancey synths, the latter of which come alive during the main break. A feverous third act stays true to the trancey moods all while the darker underbelly maintains an unconventional contrast. The companion piece 'Misty Patrol' comes with a similar design profile as deep, rolling grooves and trancey melodies immediately grab your attention. Phasing effects make for a trippy break as the old school, psy inspired hooks continue to delight with every passing loop. A classy drop keeps the proceedings on the right side of cool, foreshowing a groovy finale.

The first interpretation of 'Horizon' is provided by Adnan Jakubovic who is making his third appearance on the label. Hailing from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Adnan made his first appearance on Just Movement in July of 2016 with a remix of ‘Collide’ by Rogier. Now fresh off a contribution to the label's 'Summer' collection Adnan provides a gorgeous rendition of 'Horizon'. With a techno sensibility he anchors the story with a stripped, punchy groove that's primed for dance floor destruction. In a more solemn way the melodic content is well conveyed, pushing the journey foward into a dramatic break. Clocking in at over a minute the centrepiece serves as the tracks emotive peak, teasing the senses and setting a up a lovely third act in the process.

The release concludes with label artist Ewan Rill making his fifth appearance. The perpetually in demand remixer is fresh off outstanding releases for Afterglow and Balkan Connection, which now leads him to a much anticipated rework of 'Horizon'. Always one to think outside the box the Russian artist reinvents the melodies over a funkier groove. Ethereal vocals trail through the framework, leading nicely into the break before a rolling build shifts the energy into a quirky finale. An excellent remix from Ewan which rounds out another must have release on Just Movement. Don't miss it.
