Releases Glen Coombs – Mokuso EP [ICONYC] By Release Promo Posted on 15th April 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest from John Johnson’s ICONYC imprint welcomes Glen Coombs to the label for his debut EP. The UK artist has been quiet throughout the first half of 2018 with his last production being a remix for Vacant Recordings in September of last year. Glen’s last original music dates back almost a year to July of 2017 so his debut on ICONYC comes with much anticipation. Although perhaps more known for his tech house inspired productions ‘Mokuso’ showcases a deeper more emotive side of Glen’s studio repertoire. On a backbone of warm bass swells comes wispy vocal motifs and charming arpeggios. There’s a large, grandiose presence locked in this creation, building with a free flowing ease over it’s seven journey, peaking following a well crafted break that’s bound to captivate your dance floor. The companion piece ‘Eating Glass’ comes with an infectious drive and once gain some wonderful vocal motifs. Clustered claps add a dynamic flair as billowing bass tones and rugged rhythms charge forward. The melodic storyboard is impressive, again very fluid with gorgeous progression and flow before reaching a piano-laced peak following the main break. I had not heard of Glen prior to this release but I expect the progressive underground to be locked onto his productions from here on out. An excellent EP and a great signing for ICONYC. Highly Recommended.
