Ge Bruny – Freak / Odd [Deepwibe Underground]

The latest release from Deepwibe Underground welcomes Ge Bruny to the label for his debut EP. The Brazilian artist has found a unique place in the progressive house underground with releases on ICONYC, Clinique and Stellar Fountain offshoot Astrowave. Now stepping up for his debut on one of Russia’s finest progressive imprints, Ge Bruny presents his latest EP entitled ‘Freak/Odd’.

The lead track ‘Freak’ begins with powerful drive as a full groove and rolling percussion quickly pick up momentum. Astral effects slowly surround the framework before a crunchy arp adds an electric vibe. An acid line begins to sizzle, shifting the track into a short break where tension is at a premium, before a punishing drop propels the track to an epic finale.

The companion piece ‘Odd’ presents a similar energy with a chugging groove and electric synth line. Phasing effects and ghostly vocal pads add a trippy flair as subtle modulation keeps things interesting while upping the energy at timely moments. Not without emotive moments the main break presents a poignant lead theme which plays off the vocally pads perfectly. It’s a serene moment, perfectly setting up an epic finale to round out the EP. Two peak time stormers from Ge Bruny who continues to be a name to watch in the progressive underground. A great signing for Deepwibe Underground. Don’t miss it.
