The Buenos Aires based artist made his debut on the Argentinean imprint in June of last year with 'Pulse'. Well received it was another fine addition to what is an ever growing catalog of impressive work for the Argentine. Having gotten 2019 off to a great start with releases on Balkan Connection, One Of A Kind and Soundteller Records, Gaston now lands back on Auditen Music with an impressive follow-up to 'Pulse'. The EP's title selection 'Gama' leads the release off and finds Gaston crafting one of his most inspired productions to date. Its tough, punchy beats and spacious groove command a big presence at the outset, before dark electronics and ominous pads quickly take you into hypnotic territory. Stripping down into the break the narrative shifts with a timeless tonal theme and emotive chord changes. It's a subtle yet powerful theme, eventually revealing a distinctive vocal sample as percussion rises and the beats drop for a heady finale. Maintaining the darker ethos of the EP, the companion piece 'Lost' is equally compelling. Once again bursting with ultrasonic character, it’s chunky groove is perfectly contoured and commands a great sense of space. Perhaps a touch more emotive than 'Gama', it's robust rhythmic concepts fuel what is a powerful first act. As the storyboard evolves glowing pads descend over the framework, eventually initiating the main break. There's a sense of hopeful calm here but the percussive elements keep your anticipation high, before eventually getting washed away for a moment of serenity as the groove returns for a gorgeous conclusion. It's reflective nature puts a feel good cap on the release and once again shows progressive music fans that Gaston Ponte is a name you're going to be seeing in the playlists of many top tier DJs.
