The tenth release from Monday Social Music finds label boss Freddy Be returning alongside Savi Leon for a new single entitled 'Tihkal'. The Los Angeles duo have been occasional studio partners since 2016, racking up singles for Under No Illusion and New Violence Records, while earning the praise of electronic music tastemakers Sasha, John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia and Mark Knight. Eventually finding a comfortable home on Freddy's burgeoning Monday Social imprint, the duo now returns to the label for a much anticipated follow-up to last years 'Endless Summer'.

Continuing to build on their creative synergy it is the US duo's masterstroke to introduce the sublime vocals of Duncan Jones aka DNCN. Having worked with electronic luminaries such as Maceo Plex and Riva Starr, the UK vocalist also provided the chops for Freddy and Savi's Under No Illusion vehicle 'Habitual'. Now teaming up once again, the trio creates dance floor magic with 'Tihkal'. Smooth and organic in all the right ways, DNCN's seductive vocals work perfectly over the duo's tight, punchy framework; while meandering guitar motifs and wispy atmospherics provide a compelling canopy of sound. Destined to be one of the summer's most memorable records, expect to be hearing this one a lot from both organic and traditional house Djs in the coming months.

A star studded remixer cast is kicked off with Hernan Cattaneo & Marcelo Vasami who make their label debut. The former sits as one of the world’s most beloved DJs and his Sudbeat Music imprint is widely regarded as one of the best in its field. Meanwhile, Marcelo Vasami is one of Argentina's longest standing progressive house DJs. First hitting the scene in 2005, the Buenos Aires-based resident quickly became one of the genre’s most recognizable names, showcasing his music on Sudbeat, Replug and Hope Recordings. Now with a career that spans the better part of two decades, Marcelo continues to be one of his country’s most popular DJs, having shared the stage with Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Cid Inc. Having been occasional studio partners since 2020, Hernan and Marcelo now re-unite for a stunning interpretation of 'Tihkal'. With a slight lean towards progressive house territory, the duo manages to maintain the original's house spirit with a warm, perfectly contoured groove and swing heavy rhythms. The vocals play beautifully as well, intertwined with wavy guitar fragments, before a serene break resets the framework for a dreamy finale.

Next up of Anjunadeep and Way Out West fame is Jody Wisternoff who also makes his label debut. Always a creative remixer, the UK artist goes deep and sultry, reprocessing the vocals into a haze of dreamy reverie, as harmonic phrasing and impassioned overlays delight across the seven minute journey.

Adding further depth and variety to the package is Dilby who lands fresh off the June release of his 'No More Love' EP via 8bit. Originally from New Zealand and now based in Berlin, Dilby takes straight aim at the dance floor with his 'Tihkal' rendition. Robust and driving, it's timeless sensibility proves infectious, with a thumping groove and clattering percussion providing the backbone for catchy chord stabs and DNCN's vocals to work their magic.

Rounding out the release and completing a quintet of label debutants are the ItaloBros. Perhaps best known for their 2020 Knee Deep In Sound EP 'Spacey', the Italian duo also lay claim to releases via Glasgow Underground and Saved Records. Their borderless approach to production is well noted and has served them well, oftentimes earning a cross section of support from the underground's most adventurous DJs. Here they complete the release in style, taking 'Tihkal' into deep and funky territory, making great use of the vocals which breathe beautifully atop a foundation of rolling grooves and soulful strums. A touch late night and all the better for it, the ItaloBros put a resounding cap on another excellent offering from Monday Social Music, one which sees label boss Freddy Be and Savi Leon continue to build on what has been a fruitful partnership. Highly recommended.
