Releases Fomatic – Marion [False Face Music] By Release Promo Posted on 4th April 2019 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin False Face Music begins the Spring season by welcoming Fomatic back to the label for a new EP. The Dutch artist made his debut on the Canadian imprint in June of 2018 with the well received 'Not Enough Data To Feel' EP. Now following a release on Karunga Muusika to round out 2018, Fomatic lands back on False Face with 'Marion' alongside remixes from label boss SpeakOf. Sitting comfortably in the creative space between deep and progressive house, it's the title selection 'Marion' which leads the release off. Noted for his warm, fluid sound on more than a few occasions, it's that ethos which is evident here again with a balmy groove, tepid tones and sparkling kaleidoscopic clusters. The production is pristine and a lot of times that can suck the soul out of a record but this has a poignant quality, with timely shifts in emotion and just the right amount of musicality to appease the senses without losing sight of the dance floor. The companion piece 'Burst' comes in a touch deeper and equally compelling with an astral quality and smooth rhythmic flow. Airy atmospherics set the perfect backdrop for another dreamy motif which Fomatic seems so adept at crafting. Tranquil and cosmic in equal measure, it's a another reminder of what a well kept talent the Emmeloord resident is. Rounding out the release are two remixes from label boss Hamed Safi aka SpeakOf. Although frequently paired with fellow Canadian Santini, Hamed now embarks on a solo journey and the results are quite stunning. His take on the lead piece 'Marion' is decidedly more techno inspired but the warmth and atmospheric qualities remain in all their redolent glory. It's the main break which really brings dynamic flair with piercing, fuzzed out electronics adding an air of electricity as the groove drops amidst a rush of tranquil arps and rolling bass. Meanwhile on 'Burst' Hamed goes into the deeper realms of techno, once again retaining the warmth of the original and making great use of the lead motif. It's stripped framework allows those gorgeous cosmic qualities to breath as waves of percussion add momentum to what is an already pulsating underbelly. Likely some of SpeakOf's most inspired work to date and already fairing well with A-list DJs pre-release. Highly recommended.
