Releases Erdi Irmak – Lacuna / What Could Have Been / Inborn [Songspire Records] By Release Promo Posted on 17th April 2020 5 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Songspire Records welcomes Erdi Irmak back to the label for his debut EP. The Turkish artist first appeared on the Dutch imprint in August of last year with a well received remix of Casis ‘Rift’. Also laying claim to releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Magician On Duty and Where The Heart Is, Erdi now lands back on Songspire with ‘Lacuna’. Beginning with the tranquil sensibilities of the title cut you get the feeling that Erdi has managed to better himself once again. Deeply emotional, a wave of creamy tones, breathy atmospherics and haunting pads blanket the sultry groove, as exotic percussion and playful hooks push the rhythmic narrative onwards to a groovy finale. The EP’s midway point is marked with the organic vibes of ‘What Could Have Been’. Hypnotically driven, the first act is both smooth and enchanting, made up of spacious grooves, tantalizing arps, dusty effects and melancholic strings. Clocking in at close to eight minutes in length, the main break sits at the emotional core of the piece, full of creamy cascades and blissful motifs, before smoothly segueing into a wistful finale. Rounding out the release is ‘Inborn’ which finds Erdi exploring more heartfelt melodic themes. Backed by a punchy, percussive groove it’s musical prowess quickly becomes infectious as glowing arps and gentle chord stabs play off each other. Soulful strums take centrestage during the main break, shifting the narrative momentarily, before effortlessly transitioning into a delightfully tonal third act. It rounds out a superb return to Songspire for Erdi who continues to make waves in the organic house movement. Highly recommended.
