East Cafe – Trapped In 3D [SoulArt Recordings]

The latest release from SoulArt Recordings welcomes East Cafe back to the label for a brand new EP. The Hungarian artist made his debut on the Hungarian imprint with ‘Drops In A Downpour’. Originally released in June of this year the track then went on to be featured on KUHL’s ‘Liquid’ album in July. Now returning for his first EP East Cafe presents the much anticipated ‘Trapped In 3D’.

In terms of the pure progressive house sound there are few better than East Cafe and this four track sound story is a prime example of why. Beginning with the chunky, melodic ‘Into A Clearing’ you get a great feel for the Hungarian’s groovy, musical sound. The chord changes are euphoric and glowing while the main break takes things into heavenly territory with wispy atmospherics. ‘The Moth and the Flame’ meanwhile keeps the same galloping progressive feel but opts for a less distinct melodic approach. Relying more on atmosphere and flow, the mood is that of an early morning floor burner and an excellent one at that.

The EP’s third and also title selection ‘Trapped In 3D’ continues the journey with a rolling, yet spacious groove and tantalizing arps. The running narrative of wispy, reflective atmospheres once again sets a cosmic back drop and the restraint shown is quite nice. Relying more on subtle modulation to advance the storyboard before a heavenly break and smooth chord stabs bring that potential goosebump moment. The release concludes with ‘Under Our Shady Tree’ which caps the collection off quite nicely. This one has remarkable flow with one of those percussive grooves you just want to listen to on loop for twenty minutes. The main arp is quite magical and it’s does just enough to bring massive energy on the dance floor without going into pure anthem status. Four outstanding productions from East Cafe here which really shows that he’s at the heart of all things progressive and with support already in from Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha and Armin Van Buuren you know it's a release that belongs in your collection.
