East Cafe – Being Kind Is Overrated [Superordinate Music]

East Cafe returns to Superordinate Music for the much anticipated ‘Being Kind Is Overrated’. Following a year which included releases on Balkan Connection, One Of A Kind and Transpecta, the Hungarian artist is back with his first new music of 2019. With Hernan Cattaneo playing it all through the summer months, ‘Being Kind Is Overrated’ now sees the light of day on UK imprint Superordinate Music.

For a track whose title certainly grabs your attention so to does the music. ‘Being Kind Is Overrated’ is a progressive house construction of the highest order. Drawing on the classic sensibilities of genre with today’s new found rhythmic appeal, it’s a piece that’s both highly energetic and emotionally satisfying. Rising thematics become a primary dramatic motif throughout, following the full, thumping groove into a short but hugely effective break which ultimately sets up a thrilling finale.

The companion piece ‘A Grain Of A Sand’ has also been performing remarkably well with DJs pre-release and sits as what really amounts to a second A-side in our opinion. Aside from it’s irresistible melodies and smooth yet euphoric flow, there’s a breakbeat section which sits as the centrepiece. Now this might be considered by some as a throwback to the mid 2000s but it’s something i wouldn’t mind seeing more of today. It makes for a great change of rhythmic pace yet keeps attention on the dance floor while the break flows through it’s anticipatory stages. It works amazing well here and the melodic content is some of East Cafe’s finest to date. Highly recommended.
