Hailing from Tajikistan but now based in the USA, Dzhef has made considerable strides since first emerging in 2018. Trendsetting imprints Kiksuya Records, Nordic Voyage and Sol Selectas have been landing spots for his organic sound, while the genres tastemakers continue to favour his work. Now, fresh off an impressive debut for The Purr, Dzhef adds Stellar Fountain to his discography with 'Dudona', alongside remixes from St. Ego and Alley SA. The original mix leads the release off and surely goes down as one of Dzhef's best and most memorable tracks to date. Tight and punchy yet smooth and organic, it’s thematic sounds are instantly compelling, playing out over layers of perfectly manicured percussion and swing-heavy rhythms. Coming to full fruition across the main break, it’s a clever co-axing of emotive overlays, plucky chord stabs and soulful musicality which ultimately makes the interlude so unique, and perfectly sets up a tasteful finale. One of this year's most prolific organic artists has undoubtedly been St.Ego who returns to the label for the first interpretation of 'Dudona'. The St. Petersburg resident opts for a deeper approach, lower the tempo slightly and focusing on spacious arrangement which lets the muted piano motif breathe beautifully, while the soulful main theme highlights the centrepiece, before smoothly segueing into a blissful conclusion. The second and final interoperation is provided by Alley SA who makes his label debut off the strength of releases for Nordic Voyage, RYNTH and Sound Avenue. The South African artist is always a creative remixer and here he puts a smooth dancefloor twist on 'Dudona', complete with a nature-centric break, beautifully manicured drums and pronounced bass stabs, it's concise and emotive six minute journey to round out the release in style.
