Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music begins 2018 with a collaboration from two of Greece’s most loved artists, Dousk and Jorgio Kioris. The former cut his chops through releases on John Digweed’s Bedrock Records in 2004 before going on to appear on Vapour Recordings and GU Music. More recently Dousk has been showcasing his productions on Movement Recordings and Proton Music which sit amongst the elite imprints in modern day progressive house. Meanwhile Jorgio Kioris has also found a home on Movement Recordings as well as being the owner and founder of Greece’s Bloque Music Festival. Having previously collaborated on John Johnson’s ICONYC imprint in 2016, Dousk and Jorgio now present their second co-produced effort for Juicebox Music alongside remixes from Kamilo Sanclemente & Golan Zocher and Kieran J.

The quirky, creative capabilities of Dousk seem boundless and when paired with Jorgio’s penchant for warm, groovy progressive house the results are spectacular. The original mix boasts a distinctive, well contoured foundation that definitely sits outside of the progressive spectrum, while a variety of fresh vocal elements and funked up drums fuel it’s rhythmic core. The break brings further drama with rough yet vibrant chord stabs, building as a tight roll ignites the groove for a big moment.

Dousk has also provided his own version which comes in a touch smoother on the low end, making for a greater progressive sensibility. A broader atmospheric scope and a softer, albeit still monumentally powerful lead theme make it great for the dance floor, not to mention an ideal complement to the original.

One of the hottest production duos in progressive house over the last year has undoubtedly been Kamilo Sanclemente & Golan Zocher. The duo has been a staple in Beatport’s track and release charts where their fresh club friendly take on the genre has captured the imagination of music lovers and DJs alike. Their ‘Ozaki’ interpretation brings more musical magic, overhauling the main themes into something more ethereal and progressively pure. Bound to be a favourite of Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo, it’s melancholic break, free flowing groove and vocal fragments meld together for an unforgettable sonic collage.

The release concludes with Kieran J making his Juicebox Music debut. The Irish producer is fresh off releases for Stripped Recordings and Hydrogen while also owning releases on Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint. Perhaps one of the progressive scenes most underrated talents, Kieran’s timeless approach to the genre always leads to impressive compositions and his ‘Ozaki’ interpretation certainly does as well. The tempo comes down and the groove opens up for an altogether deeper vibe. The vocal elements, while slightly more audible, play a vital role in setting up the melodic narrative, which in all its reflective glory, closes the release out just right.

For a label that had as good a 2017 as any, Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music continues on a formidable path as 2018 begins.
