DJ AroZe – Lost Feelings EP [Soundteller Records]

Deersky’s Soundteller Records is back again with more fresh talent in DJ AroZe. After introducing Nightboy to the world two weeks ago the label then presented a massive single from one of India’s finest artists in SEQU3L. Now going back to their seeming endless pool of unheralded talent Soundteller welcomes DJ AroZe to the label for his debut EP.

Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Tel Aviv, AroZe just has just three previous releases courtesy of 20Hz Records and Pineapple Grooves. Spread across three tracks, his Soundteller debut sets the stage for a promising future. Beginning with ‘Noontime Dancing’, AroZe paints a collage of cross-cultural motifs and astral effects, all sitting perfectly over a warm, chugging groove. Although undeniably progressive it avoids any unnecessary theatrics and opts for a darker, stripped back approach which should make for a great dance floor presence.

The second selection ‘Praludium’ follows suit with a darker, percussive design. It’s swing heavy groove builds mounds of momentum across the first act as clustered claps and ethereal themes lead into the break. Cinematic and mysterious, the tracks centrepiece adds a lot to the narrative, carrying the contemplative vibe into a strong third act finale.

The EP concludes with ‘Summer Confessions’ which lowers the tempo and presents a deeper approach. Perhaps the most popular of the three with DJs thus far, it’s a smooth hypnotic chugger with a show stealing vocal during the break, which certainly sits as the most emotive moment on the EP. I’m not sure how Soundteller continues to unearth such amazing unknown talent but AroZe might be one of their most promising finds to date. Three exceptionally produced tracks which makes for a must have EP. Can’t wait to hear more. Highly Recommended.
