MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music finds the label showcasing new interpretations of 'Strange Rain' by Digital Mess. Originally released in August of 2022 and earning support from Kolsch, Nick Warren and Paul Van Dyk, the four-track showcase found the Russian artist crafting a cohesive blend of club-effective tracks, complete with prophetic design and dystopian style narratives. Now, looking to breathe new life into the EP for 2023, SLC-6 Music calls upon Rick Pier O'Neil, Cathy K, F-Act, Leandro Jaime, Sergio Vilas and Gru V to provide their own unique versions. Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of 'Reprise' is Rick Pier O'Neil. Famed for releases via Beatfreak, JOOF and Outta Limits; the French born, Mexico-based artist goes bigger and bolder, taking square aim at a peak time dance floor with machine gun grooves, fiery percussion and an array of devilish effects. Returning to the label for the first interpretation of 'Strange Rain' is Cathy K. Fresh of releases for JOOF Aura and Univack, the Maltese artist goes deep and dark, taking the track into introspective territory while never losing sight of the dancefloor. Next up is F-Act who makes his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Skin Frost'. Hailing from Switzerland and laying claim to releases via Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and John '00' Fleming's JOOF, F-Act provides a nice balance of powerful progressive grooves and hypnotic lines to entrance the listener. The release's halfway point finds Leandro Jaime making his label debut with the second and final interpretation of 'Strange Rain'. The Argentinean artist makes great use of the elements in crafting an old school progressive version with thumping grooves and haunting atmospheres. Also making his label debut is Sergio Vilas who arrives on the strength of releases for Aletheia Recordings and Stripped Digital. The UK based artist provides the second and final interpretation of 'Reprise', taking the track into techno-inspired territory with punchy kick-drums and a no frills arrangement that's perfectly dialed for mid-set play. The release concludes with Gru V returning to the label with the lone interpretation of 'It Was Not (Siberian)'. The Sri Lankan artist began the year with his SLC-6 debut 'Atman', a track co-produced with fellow countryman and label A&R Dr Green. Now, returning for his first remix, Gru V rounds out the release on a high note with a melody-rich version that's sure to appease all the true progressive house aficionados.
