Day Out Of Time – Deep In The Amazon [Soundteller Records]

The latest release from Deersky's Soundteller Records welcomes Day Out Of Time to the label for his debut EP. Based in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian artist first came to our attention in 2019 with the release of 'Monsters In The Dark'. Written in collaboration with Aliwen and released courtesy of Karuana Records, the nine track journey showcased Day Out Of Time's borderless approach to production, touching on electronic, afro and organic house, all the way up to more progressive inspired sounds. Now presenting just his second official release, Day Out Of Time debuts on Soundteller with 'Deep In The Amazon'.

Spread across three tracks, it is the transcendent sounds of 'Rainbow Serpent' which lead the release off. A robust and well carved foundation sets a strong presence from the outset as layers of exotic percussion drive energy into the main break. The centrepiece shifts mood, completely melting down to an impressive array of effects which work to mind bending effect and perfectly set up a glowing, atmospheric finale.

Selection two 'Stargaze' comes in a bit more organic sounding and with a deeper sensibility overall. Reflective motifs arrive early, flowing through emotive chord changes as atmospheric phrasing and rolling percussion add depth and space. The main break proves most impactful with it's luminous chimes and emerging arps providing a bridge into a tasteful drop and purring conclusion.

'Stories by the Campfire' rounds out the EP and presents an even greater emotional lean. Hazy harmonics and a playfully buoyant groove are perhaps the most striking here, setting the framework for dulcet tones and vibrant percussive arrangements to transfer energy into a calming interlude and suitably meditative finale.
