Chapa Ruiz – Love Talk [Soundteller Records]

Chapa Ruiz makes his production debut on Deersky's Soundteller Records with 'Love Talk'. Hailing from Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist first made waves just a few months ago with a private remix of The Doors 'Riders On The Storm'. Now embarking on his first official release Chapa presents a three track artist showcase via Poland's finest.

Spread across three tracks it's 'Love Talk' which gets the release underway. Clean and serene, it's a piece that sits comfortably in the creative space between deep and progressive house. Beginning with a warm, percussive groove, it's dulcet tones, timely pianos and free form harmonics which converge for a tranquil storyboard. Vocal fragments advance the narrative during the main break, before trippy overlays segue perfectly into a final act of smooth chord changes and reflective tones.

Sitting at the EP's midway point is 'Alone' which comes in a bit more driving but with the same brooding qualities of it's predecessor. It's robust low end undulates with great shape and character, as nostalgic chord changes provide the perfect foundation for muted tones and wistful pads to work their magic.

The release concludes with the hypnotic sensibilities of 'Textures'. Anchored by chunky slabs of bass and clattering percussion it's quite evident that although at the beginning of this career Chapa has already developed a distinctive sound. Vibrant tones make for a lively rhythmic core, subtly building momentum across the first act before smoothly segueing into a second movement of rising overlays, ultimately peaking during the main break before the rumbling groove takes you home. It caps off three satisfying tracks from Chapa who has more than staked his claim as one of Argentina's freshest new talents. Another great signing for Deersky's Soundteller Records. Don't miss it.
