Yannick Mueller & Pascale Voltaire – Necesito (Stefan Biniak Remix) [SOSO]

By ProgressiveAstronaut

Hot of the heels of label head, Oliver Schories’ artist album - Blitzbahn - comes relative newcomer duo (in production terms), Yannick Muller and Pascale Voltaire with their debut release for SOSO, ‘Necesito’. Remixes are provided by Genji Yoshida, Jonas Woehl and Stefan Biniak. Teaming up at Kosmonaut, Berlin back in December the pair complement each others individual styles with a shared appreciation of the deeper, more melodic side of Techno. Their track mirrors this love with crisp percussion, 80s sonic sensibilities and wildly impressive modular bass line. On the remix, Genji Yoshida takes things deeper and more cerebral creating a vibey deep house cut full of tension and energy. Jonas Woehl goes big with epic 80s-inspired cut. Imagine if M83 and Maceo Plex got together and had babies. Finally, Stefan Biniak takes things in a classic melodic direction with clever musical touches enhancing the solid percussive foundation ► YouTube: bit.ly/ProgressiveAstrona

Dmitry Molosh – 2702 [Hope Recordings]

By ProgressiveAstronaut

'One of the stars of the recent progressive house renaissance is assuredly Dmitry Molosh. The globe-trotting DJ and genre-defining producer has been making ever-larger waves for many years now largely through his rapier-sharp musical focus. Making his debut on Hope Recordings after his incredible remix for Black 8 in 2016, Dmitry brings a lifetime of passion and the studio skills of someone twice his age to bare on double-header, Lonely Heart and 2702. The beauty of Dmitry’s music is in its elegance. Long drawn out passages of percussive foundation making way for glistening sonic waves which totally captivate you. Lonely Heart is no exception, its melancholy charm becomes more clear with each blissful minute leaving you utterly spellbound; in the palm of his hands. 2702 is a much tougher sound. Gritty and driving, it pulverises the dancefloor into submission punctuated by Eastern wails and a woodblock melody. Dutch maestro Navar provides a spine-tingling remix of Lonely Heart,

We've assembled an all-star crew of artists to remix an incredible original by Active Child. Everyone truly brought their A-game, and the results speak for themselves. Many timeless dance floor moments are sure to come from this release. MDK is a new project by someone responsible for some of the most iconic tracks in the past 10 years. The man behind it is none other than Matthew Dekay. Joining him is another legend, known for his emotional and unique approach, someone taking a no-compromise approach to production and sound quality, a man that needs no introduction – Stimming. As chance would have it, a couple more of our dear friends wanted to join this project, upon hearing about it, quickly turning it into a mini-album. Dave DK's Pacific Ride is a melodic journey, while his stripped down Topanga Dub goes into darker territory. This one will be right at home in the desert or a warehouse, just the way we like it. Pablo Bolivar rounds things out with a serious four to the flo

Eitan Reiter – All That I Know (Guy J Remix) [Lost & Found]

Guy J’s seminal label celebrates its 50th release with a two remixes of famed Israeli artist, Eitan Reiter. Having recently finished his second long player, Reiter has the uncanny ability to create a bewildering cross section of styles with aplomb. Featured here are Guy’s remixes of ‘All That I Know’ and ‘Fade Away’ which have been big crowd pleasers in his shows this year. ‘All That I Know’ was originally released on Armadillo Records back in November 2017 as part of his second solo album, Give It Life. In original form, its wonky off-kilter rhythms and delicate sonics shape the track atmospherically. Guy takes that energy and injected his own dance floor voodoo to add some necessary late night groove. Also taken from the Give It Life album, ‘Fade Away’ marries deep pads, trip hops beats and influences of Shoegaze. Upping the tempo and adding a hefty dose of funk from the off, Guy brings this detailed and finespun masterpiece onto the frontlines of twenty fi

The debut of Rafael Cerato and THe WHite SHadow on WEITER, with a massive three tracker to kickstart the festival season in style. With Ginger, the guys may have found the perfect blend between organic percussion elements and hypnotizing synthesizer sounds. Thousand-and-one-night vibes, with enchanting melodies flowing around you like snake charmers. Definitely a track for those epic open-air moments! You can feel the Spirit of Desert. Koala begins where Ginger ends. Having the same organic drum vibe, Koala will take you further on a trip trough the desert. Mesmerizing long pad sounds, dancing around you like belly-dancers. A catchy piano riff is backing up the soundscapes, and will bring every listener into a deep trance without loosing the groove. Wasabi can be seen as the definition of “best of both worlds”. It combines the hypnotizing elements from Koala together with the organic percussion and peak-time melodies from Ginger, blending it into one piece of art. Deci

Noir – Disruption [Noir Music]

By ProgressiveAstronaut

Its been more than 2 years since I did an original release on my own label. Its been 9 months since I had an original NOIR release. I wanted some time without releases. Some time to breathe, to think and most importantly time to be creative and to experiment. I have picked 2 productions I felt sounded different to everything else out here. Eruption was already made in the fall 2017 and I have been road-testing it since ADE17 and changed it quite a lot over the 6 months period from when I thought it was finished to what it actually sounds like now. I wanted the track to be brutal like a volcano erupting but at the same time have beautiful and peaceful elements. Hence the breakdown lava sliding into the middle of the track before it all erupts again. I have spent many hours trying to make it sound raw and unpolished. Disruption is build around a super simple sequence loop I played by hand while jamming with new pluck sounds. As the sequence got layered and washed in effects it bec

Alex Niggemann – Array (Yotam Avni Remix) [AEON]

By ProgressiveAstronaut

Alex’s first outing in 2018 is a diverse package that displays his customary variety of moods and textures. Exos demonstrates Alex’s command of intricate layering techniques, and jacking rhythmic patterns sure to rock the most discerning of floors, building to a satisfying synth laden climax. Array by contrast, adheres to a darker and more melancholic mood, building a haunting tension throughout, and driving relentlessly and menacingly forward at all times. Yotam Avni has been catching many people’s attention with his recent outings on Innervisions and Hotflush, and here the talented DJ/Producer provides perfect remix interpretation for Array: mounted on a deliciously solid groove, Yotam’s arrangement continually teases and surprises, introducing esoteric percussion and sensual synth flourishes to create an atmospheric alternative. As with all Alex Niggemann releases, these new tracks mirror the DJ sets that he is famed for, focussing on conjuring up the spirit of cla
