CANCCI – Sereno [Monday Social Music]

Closing out a strong first quarter of 2022, Monday Social welcomes CANCCI back to the label for a new single. Based in Curitiba, the Brazilian artist has risen quickly since his debut in 2018. Following his initial release for local label Prove It, CANCCI went on a three-year creative swell highlighted by releases for Akbal Music, Clubsonica, Stripped Recordings and Warung Recordings. Also, an accomplished DJ, CANCCI has programmed music from some of his country’s trendiest venues such as Club Vibe, Usina 5 and The Island of Lost. Having made his Monday Social debut in 2020 with a contribution to the label's popular 'Floorplay' series, the Brazilian artist forged a bond with the label, leading to two remixes across 2021. Now presenting his first project of 2022, CANCCI returns to Monday Social with 'Sereno', alongside a remix from Dilby x Floorplay.

Finding a place in the creative space between organic and tech house, it is the Original Mix which sets the tone for the release. CANCCI's knack for crafting infectious grooves is at a premium here, as the Brazilian lays down a hip-swinging framework, complete with flashing percussive arrangements, soulful vocal elements and fluttery synth phrasing. Timeless and emotive in equal measure, the main break melts down to a gentle sonic sizzle, building tension though rising modulation, panning effects and bulbous bass swells, before a timely drop spearheads a groove-centric finale.

Returning to the label and providing the lone interpretation of 'Sereno' is Dilby x Floorplay. Born in New Zealand and now based in Germany, Dilby has been a fixture of the electronic underground for over a decade. Finding his footing early on, the Berlin resident quickly racked up an impressive resume, showcasing his music via Bondage, Glasgow Underground and Mother Recordings, before landing on tech-house titans 8bit and Saved Records. No stranger to Monday Social, Dilby's remix of 'Tihkal' by Freddy Be & Savi Leon landed in June of last year, enjoying an extended stay in Beatport's tech-house chart, while still sitting in his top ten best sellers almost a year later. Meanwhile, the elusive Floorplay made their Monday Social debut late last year with the well-received ‘Garden Of Earthly Delights’. Remixed by Jamie Stevens and applauded by many top-tier DJs, it set in motion what promises to be a breakout year for this mysterious new alias. Joining forces for the first time, Dilby returns to Monday Social alongside the elusive Floorplay for a stellar rendition of 'Sereno'. Opting for a deeper approach, the trio stays true to the main themes from the original, while opening the framework up for a spacious, swing heavy journey. The main break serves as an emotional apex, with fragmented vocals, galloping arps and hopeful pads uniting atop balmy bass swells, eventually getting washed away in a rush of drums for a spirited drop and smooth final act. A sensational interpretation from Dilby x Floorplay, which makes for an excellent Monday Social return for CANCCI. Don't miss it.
