Biologik – When I Dream [Stellar Fountain]

Stellar Fountain enters the summer season by showcasing new interpretations of Biologik's 'When I Dream'. Released this month as part of the Canadian artist's fourth studio album, it proved to be a highlight on the twelve-track offering. Sitting as the LP's second selection, it's organic beats, dusty electronics and heartfelt vocals ultimately set the course for was a sensational listen. Now looking to bring that magic closer to the dance floor, Stellar Fountain invites Monojoke and Adam Nathan to re-imagine the track.

As a stalwart on the Stellar Fountain roster, Polish artist Monojoke has appeared ten times on the Hungarian imprint since making his debut in 2013. The emergence of organic house in 2018 proved to be an impactful time in Monojoke’s evolution as a producer, inspiring him to champion the sound in his own creations, and eventually landing releases via Flug Lab, Nature Rec and Songuara. Now returning to Stellar Fountain, Monojoke continues his deeper ways with a gorgeous take on 'When I Dream'. Warm beats and exotic percussion set the perfect foundation for those emotive vocals to work their magic. An evolving narrative sees rhythmic shifts and radiant atmospheres bring an effortless, hip swinging cadence, before melting down into a glowing break as the vocal resurfaces for a reflective finale.

The release concludes with Adam Nathan making his label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of 'When I Dream'. The London born, Toronto based artist first emerged in 2017 with ‘Soulmachine’. Coming courtesy of the long-standing Viva Recordings imprint, the three-track offering was not only well received amongst A-list DJs, but also enjoyed an extended stay in Beatport’s Deep House chart. Remix projects for Magician On Duty, RYNTH, Sound Avenue and The Purr soon followed across the next five calendar years, ultimately leading to 2022 where he put his groovy touch on music from Dkeymusik and Monojoke. Now adding Stellar Fountain to his resume, Adam takes 'When I Dream' on a magic carpet ride of groove and emotion. This version lightens the mood nicely with its charismatic charm and youthful exuberance. Undeniably positive throughout, it's buoyant bass tones do wonders to create depth, space and drive, while the vocal emerges with a tasteful elegance against fluttery chord stabs. An audio travelogue of sorts, with subtle shades, creamy tones and drifting vocals creating a colourful canopy of sound, on wards to an impassioned finale. An imaginative remix from Adam to close out the release in fine style, complete with an excess of heart and soul, which is something we'll always applaud. Highly recommended.
