Releases Ash Mellor – Back In Love [Musique de Lune Noire] By Release Promo Posted on 3 weeks ago 7 min read 0 1 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Following a six-month hiatus, Musique de Lune's Noire division returns with a new single from Ash Mellor. Hailing from the UK, Ash Mellor is perhaps best known for being half of the Sixty Feet Deep artist moniker. Inspired by the likes of such as John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sasha, Sixty Feet Deep would make their debut in 2017 with a well-received single via Tears, before going on to release a four-track artist showcase via Brian Cid's Endangered imprint. Moving forward, 2023 would see Ash's inaugural release under his given name. Coming courtesy of Musique de Lune's Noire division and recorded in collaboration with American artist Steve Fokas, 'Because of You' would delight listeners and dancefloors alike with its deep, spacey, vocal co-actions. Now, returning to the label in solo capacity, Ash presents his latest studio creation 'Back In Love', alongside remixes from Steve Fokas and Leah Marie. Full of detail and energy, 'Back In Love' is a dark yet hopeful voyage where Ash Mellor explores a storyboard of squelchy synth mutations, airy arpeggiated sequences and wispy vocal pads, the latter of which add a unique soul and emotion to the journey. It's spacious framework while powerful, presents a smooth, cruising vibe, one where elements have the space to evolve and meander for an eventual finale reminiscent of a a semi-conscious dreamland. Returning to the label for the first remix is Steve Fokus who arrives on the strength of releases for Brian Cid's Endangered and Hot Tuneik's Guateque Music. Having appeared on Musique de Lune Noire in 2023 with the aforementioned Ash Mellor collaboration 'Because Of You', the American artist now returns for his first remix. The Philadelphia resident opts for a peak time approach here, while staying true to the themes from the original, the overall vibe pushes tension and emotion a few notches higher than the original, with a menacing array of effects and nostalgic key changes finding a perfect balance of grit and beauty. The release concludes with Leah Marie making her label debit with the second and final interpretation of 'Back In Love'. The Australian born, Berlin based artist is perhaps best known for her work on Australian imprint Late Night Music, a label where she has delivered four originals and a remix across an eighteen month stretch, while also lending her talents to German imprint Yomo Records for a well-received remix of 'Connecting Dots' by Allan McLoud, a production which has highlighted the first half of 2025. Her second offering of the year continues the upwards trajectory she's been on, as she offers a dubbed out groove based interpretation of 'Back In Love' which complements the previous two versions perfectly. There's a groovy percussive vibe to it which feels effortless and smooth, never trying to do too much which is an attractive way to round out the release on a high note. Highly recommended.
