Apocrypha (AR) – Solstice [Stellar Fountain]

Stellar Fountain welcomes rising artist Apocrypha (AR) to the label with 'Solstice'. Argentinean producer Apocrypha first came to our attention in 2019 with a release via Fernando Ferreyra's Dreamers imprint. His deeper sound then found its way onto Jelly For The Babies RYNTH, Julian Rodriguez's Massive Harmony and Italy's Cigarette Music, three well established imprints who have become comfortable homes for the Argentine. Now adding Stellar Fountain to his resume, Apocrypha makes his label debut with 'Solstice', alongside remixes from Julian Liander and Lafreq.

The original mix finds a nice balance between traditional deep and organic house. While the bassline and groove aesthetics likely lie closer to the former, its drum detail and arrangement keep in more in the latter. Timely chord stabs and twinkly motifs make up the bulk of the narrative, which is quite timeless in delivery, while the main break does a great job keeping rhythm locked while building some nice anticipation for a groovy finale.

Making his label debut and providing the first remix is Julian Liander. The Buenos Aires resident reworks the groove for more of a dusty, character rich approach, while a nature-centric backdrop and fragmented melodies transfer energy into a dulcet break. Approaching two minutes in length the centrepiece is a sonic delight with its impressive array of effects and subtle, yet heartfelt musicality, the latter of which ultimately spearheads a soulful finale.

The release concludes with label debutant Lafreq providing the second and final remix of 'Solstice'. The UK artist crafts a gorgeous organic rendition with ghostly vocal fragments and processed pianos converging in a colourful atmospheric backdrop. A short but haunting break does wonders in bringing further depth to the narrative, while indistinct chord stabs and a wealth of drum elements power a delightful finale. Superb music from all three artists involved which makes for another on the money release from Stellar Fountain. Don't miss it.
