Anton MAKe – Catcher Clouds [Steller Fountain]

Anton MAKe returns to Stellar Fountain this week with a brand new single entitled 'Catcher Clouds'. The Russian artist had a strong 2016 with a release on Cid Inc's Replug Records and just recently remixed Lemon8 for Welcome Music. Now Anton follows up his 'Lost in Amsterdam' single from 2015 with the much anticipated 'Catcher Clouds' alongside remixes from Be Morais and Chris Drifter. 

The original mix comes with Anton's ultra tight and pristinely polished production as you would expect. Rooted with a tough, square kick and metallic percussion it sounds distinctly modern. Rough stabs add nicely to the rhythmic drive while delivering some quality character into the mix as well. The break brings sequenced chords before fading out into a swirling atmospheric wave, eventually trailing off into a classy drop. Lovely work from Anton.

Love the remixer selections here, led by one of the underground's most underappreciated talents in Be Morais. The Brazilian artist and Not Another label boss takes a more techno inspired approach while still keeping a nice melodic flow along with some underlying, mystical charm. The chord changes are highly emotive and the degree of subtlety locked in the delivery is a real key in how powerful the piece is I think. Outstanding remix from Be Morais.

Closing the release out is Chris Drifter who has been enjoying a nice resurgence of late with a great remix of 'City Lights' by Cetera & Zan Prevee (also courtesy Stellar Fountain) and more recently a Nanofeel remix on Reelaux Digital. Here he brings his timeless club sensibility to 'Catcher Clouds' with great success. It's romping groove is loaded with bounce and a complement of clattering drums widens the space quite nicely. The melodic elements translate well, especially during the main break as the funky bass stabs roll towards a slight build and stripped back but powerful drop. Definitely one for the dance floor and it rounds the release out with an old school vibe. Great package from Stellar Fountain once again.
