Hailing from Mexico but currently based in the USA, Andrei has been a fixture of the electronic underground for nearly a decade. BC2, Massive Harmony, Outta Limits, Soundteller and more have played host to his progressive sound since first emerging in 2013. Longstanding Stellar Fountain has also been a landing spot for Andrei, with his 'Premonitions' single marking his label debut in 2020. Now following a quiet start to 2022, Andrei returns to Stellar Fountain for his first project of the year entitled 'Soulshine', alongside remixes from Traumhouse & LADS and Nick Lewis & Darren Bray. Although Stellar Fountain has focused an organic schedule this year, 'Soulshine' lands somewhere between traditional deep and progressive house. Smooth, warm and with a bit of a backroom style vibe, it's whimsical arps, fluttery chord stabs and youthful quality carries it nicely. A tranquil sounding break complete with a soulful lead theme is perhaps the most memorable moment in the eight minute journey, and a nicely crafted build does wonders to cue a playfully buoyant finale. First up on the remixes are Traumhouse & LADS who have collaborated in the past for Particles, Proton and Rituel Recordings. This quartet of excellent producers have crafted a creative take on 'Soulshine' here, going for a deeper, sleeker vibe, while still maintaining the effortless quality of the original. A nature backdrop creates a lovely mood across the break, allowing luminous clusters to breathe, before eventually melting down into a smooth meditative conclusion. The release concludes with Nick Lewis & Darren Bray providing the second and final interpretation of 'Soulshine'. Having both appeared on the label once previously, the duo now return for a collaborative remix that complements the previous versions very well. As the most progressive sounding of the three, it's full bodied groove, flickering percussive arrangements and serene soundscapes make for a colorful journey. Haunting vocal gates strike at timely moments for additional depth and space, while a short and tense build coming out of the break provides the necessary spark to fuel a thumping finale.
