Andrea Cassino – Lamarr [Soundteller Records]

7 min read

Following on from 2UP's massive 'Devotion', Deersky's Soundteller Records welcomes Andrea Cassino back to the label for a new single. A regular on the label since 2014, Andrea has racked up twenty discography credits across the last seven years for the Polish imprint. Hernan Cattaneo has taken a liking to Andrea's sleek, effortless brand of progressive house and has been a steadfast supporter over the years. With recent releases for Clubsonica Records, ICONYC Noir and Proton Music all sounding sensational, Andrea now returns to Soundteller with 'Lamarr', alongside remixes from Enigmatic and Greg Ochman.

Beginning with the pulsating hypno grooves of the original, Andrea marries fluid rhythms with charged basslines and radiant atmospheres. Evolving percussive arrangements and charming effects add nicely to its meditative pulse, before lively arps shift energy into a stunning break. Widescreen in nature, the centrepiece delights with shimmering arrays and gentle percussive splashes, perfectly complementing emerging swells and soulful vocals wails as the groove drops for a chugging finale.

The first remix is provided by Enigmatic who makes his label debut. The Polish artist has recently found footing in the organic house scene with standout releases for Melody Of The Soul, Hoomidaas and Radiant. Here he continues that trend with a deep and emotive rendition of 'Lamarr' that complements the original really well. Concise at under six minutes in length it's a mix that makes the most of that time with warm key changing basslines, heavenly vocal fragments and a heartfelt break to send people home with a smile.

Rounding out the release with the final remix is Greg Ochman who makes his label debut. Although still a relatively new name, Greg Ochman has compiled an impressive resume since first emerging in 2021 with a release via Sebastien's Leger's Lost Miracle. Clubsonica, Kiksuya, Plattenbank and Warung have all played host to Greg's organic sound. Now adding Soundteller to his resume, the Polish artist turns in a gorgeous rendition of 'Lamarr' for his label debut. Coming down a notch from the previous two versions, Greg opens up the framework with more of a spacious groove and understated percussion, which in turn allows the vocal and musical elements to resonate really well. Poignant pianos and soaring strings work magic across the first act, perfectly setting up a delicate sounding break which goes down as the most emotive moment on the release. Beautiful music from Greg which caps off a very well rounded release from Soundteller, who are suddenly on a roll as the Spring season approaches.
