Andre Sobota – Missing Line [Clubsonica Records]

The 44th release on Clubsonica Records welcomes Andre Sobota to the label for his debut EP. Coming from considerable acclaim, the Brazilian artist rose to the forefront of electronic music in 2012 when his remix of Coldplay and Rihanna's 'Princess Of China' was picked up and played by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. Following that Andre's two tracks 'Voyager' and 'Found' were signed by Eric Prydz for release on his Pryda Friends label and with that the Brazilian had earned a place in the progressive house elite. More recently Andre has found a home on ICONYC and Proton Music where his melodic prowess has continued to flourish. Now making his much anticipated Clubsonica debut Andre presents his latest single 'Missing Line' alongside remixes from Juan Pablo Torrez, Golan Zocher and Blue Cell.

Andre's production scope has always been boundless. Considering his critically acclaimed Drum and Bass alias Bungle, the Brazilian artist is also equally adept at writing crossover, compositional melodic pieces as he is deep, emotive house, with 'Missing Line' falling into the latter category. Beginning with rich textural designs and a fluid, freeform groove, it's a compelling piece from the start. Moving elegantly, creamy tonal designs evolve into the full frequency range amidst a hazy harmonic bliss, before a short, timely break resets the groove, shifting energy into a radiant finale.

The first interpretation of 'Missing Line' is provided by Clubsonica label boss Juan Pablo Torrez. While becoming a regular in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo in recent years, the Colombian artist has found a unique place in the progressive underground. As the popularity of genre has risen so too has Juan's career and he now sits as one of scenes most in demand artists. Now remixing melodic icon Andre Sobota, Juan delivers some of his best ever work, taking the track into pure progressive territory. While the deep, mystical vibe is well maintained, a reshaped groove and rolling rhythmic core bring it closer to the dance floor. Sitting at the track's centerpiece, an expansive break brings the emotive narrative to full fruition, developing elegantly, before an astral arp and vocal overlays set up a massive drop, shifting the track into an impassioned third act.

The second remix comes from one of the hottest progressive house artists of the moment in Golan Zocher. Whether paired with sometime studio partner Kamilo Sanclemente or going solo, the Colombia resident always seems to find his tracks in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now returning to Clubsonica for his third appearance Golan puts his own unique twist on 'Missing Line'. Opting for a dubbier approach, the emphasis on rhythm and groove is at a premium, with thick slabs of bass and neatly tailored percussion working together in perfect sonic unison. Not without emotive moments, the main break flows through a heartfelt take on the main themes before the rumbling groove returns for a heady finale.

The third and final remix of 'Missing Line' is provided by Blue Cell who are returning to Clubsonica for their second appearance. Hailing from Germany, Joachim Broeckers and Nicolas Albrecht make up the Blue Cell production duo. Having first appeared on Clubsonica in November of 2017 with a remix of 'Return' by Rich Curtis the duo now returns with an equally excellent rendition of Andre Sobota. Warm and full of great shape, the foundation carves a path where the main themes get reinvented in charming fashion. The luminous melodies quickly steal your heart before a short break transfers energy into a chunky, yet musically inspired third act. It rounds out what is yet another landmark release for Clubsonica Records, who not only add Andre Sobota as a label artist but continue to build an impressive legacy within the progressive house underground.
