ALMA (AR) – Sati [La Cura de la Semana]

Presenting their first release of the year, DJ Ryan's La Cura de la Semana welcomes ALMA (AR) to the label for her debut single. Hailing from Argentina, Maria Pedraza aka ALMA first appeared on the progressive music scene in 2020 with remixes for Droid9 and Faraway Scope. It wasn't until 2021 however that she released her first original production, coming courtesy of local label Shine. Her love for percussion shines through in her dance floor creations, some of which have already earned the praise of the genre's most highly regarded DJs. Now presenting her first project of 2022, ALMA debuts on La Cura de la Semana with 'Sati', alongside a remix from Coloü Befu.

The original mix sets the tone with beefy beats and a big, chugging bassline. Layers of percussion fill the air as momentum builds, while trance-inducing chord changes bring just the right emotional response leading into the break. Furthering the melodic narrative across the interlude, ALMA fashions sweeping effects and vocal elements atop the rising musical theme, eventually giving way to a classy drop and euphoric finale.

Making her label debut and providing the lone remix is Coloü Befu. Also hailing from Argentina Florencia Befumo aka Coloü Befu has enjoyed a steady rise since making her debut on UY! Best regards in 2019. Long-standing imprints such AMITABHA, Droid9 and Droid9 South America have played host to her progressive sounds, while world class DJ Hernan Cattaneo has also chimed in with support. Continuing on that upwards trajectory, Coloü Befu now adds La Cura de la Semana to her resume with a powerful take on 'Sati'. Staying true to the melodic themes from the Original, the Rosario resident adds additional musical elements, while keeping the rhythmic narrative strong for a mix that is not only complementary to the original, but adds an amazing dance floor sensibility as well. Sensational stuff from Colou Befu, which caps off an excellent offering for DJ Ryan's La Cura de la Semana, a label who gets 2022 off to a great start. Highly recommended.
